Welcome to ProAudio Revival - The DAT Lab

Born from a passion for audio and magnetic tape recording,
​ProAudio Revival – The DAT Lab is dedicated to the preservation of the Digital Audio Tape (DAT) format.

With manufacturer support for DAT recorders long discontinued, the aim is to document, restore and preserve these remarkable machines, helping to ensure they remain operational and appreciated for generations to come. Beyond restoration, the website serves as an evolving online resource, bringing together technical knowledge, historical information, restoration projects and a growing museum dedicated to the DAT format.

While DAT remains the primary focus, selected professional and consumer audio and video formats are also restored, including DTRS, ADAT, VHS/S-VHS, 8mm/Hi8, DV/MiniDV, DVCAM, DVCPRO, Betamax/Betacam, Compact Cassette, Digital Compact Cassette (DCC), CD and MiniDisc equipment.
